Greek Prawns in Tomato Sauce

What's The Big Idea?

Classic, simple mediterranean cooking. Just great, fresh produce combined to make a tasty dish. Serve on a bed of boiled rice with a green salad.

Shopping List

Here's the list of what you need:

  • 3 medium onions, finely chopped
  • 3 large tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 150ml white wine
  • 1kg large prawns, cleaned and shelled

What To Do

  • Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the onion until golden
  • Add the chopped tomatoes, salt, pepper, oregano and basil, and stir well
  • Bring this sauce to the boil, then reduce the heat to simmer. Add the garlic and white wine, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes
  • Add the prawns and cook for about five minutes, stirring well, or until the prawns are cooked
  • Serve on a bed of boiled rice with a side salad
