Swedish Chocolate Balls:

What's the big idea?

It seems that every child in Sweden knows how to make this recipe. They make great treats for children, or go very nicely with a good cup of strong after-dinner coffee!

Shopping List

Here's the list of what you need:

  • 4oz unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 6oz icing sugar
  • 3 tablespoons strong black coffee (cold)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 10oz rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • Dessicated coconut

What To Do

  • In a large bowl or food processor, beat together the butter, icing sugar and coffee
  • Mix in the vanilla extract, oats and cocoa. Make sure everything is mixed in well
  • The mixture should be easy to roll and not too sticky; you can adjust the consistency by adding more oats or coffee
  • Roll the mixture into about 25 small balls; roll these in the dessicated coconut to coat
  • Refrigerate for about 2 hours before eating
